Gothic-Pirate Fashion-Style Clown - Court House Hotel Newtown..

Gothic-Pirate Fashion-Style Clown, is it Pirates of the Inner West?  I don't really know all I know is I like it - the Skull print 'pantaloons' white Doc Martins, braces with feathers, sheer stretch lace top with black bra, a bone on red string necklace; something to lure unwary sailors into a new and different world - even for Newtown; fashion creativity at its peak!

How to Style Basics - the French Way - in Newtown..

Some days the 'street fashion gods' really are are on your side and this was one of those days. I am lunching with a photography colleague on King Street Newtown when this vision-from-France of perfectly styled mauve and white casual basics comes strolling along. Well I had to drop my lunch time Flâneur, grab my camera and get these shots of effortless simplicity, perfect for the last days of winter and the changeable weather. Mauve socks and skirt in stretch cotton teamed with a white Tee and white leather jacket, black Velcro-lace skate shoes, top-to-bottom tied and teamed with a mauve hair-band and black Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses. Perfect! And I love those fine silver filigree rings too.. Thank you Newtown and thank-you France!

FEEL AND THINK : Fashion Runway Show & Tear-a-Way at SCAF.

FEEL AND THINK : Fashion Runway Show & Tear-a-Way; Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation (SCAF) in partnership with UTS Fashion Design Department
.

This was the final instalment in the FEEL AND THINK: A NEW ERA OF TOKYO FASHION brought to you by the Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation (SCAF). You can read all about it over on my good friends design site Design Federation - love you Klaus & Co. I arrived just in time to see the last of the runway action in the Sherman, SCAF gallery space. Must say this was a fabulous installation piece and at the end of the runway show which was in fact a walk-around on the gallery floor not an elevated runway scenario.. at the end of which parts of the ribbed paper construction were torn open to reveal select fashion pieces hanging in the white, womb-like spaces. You will get the idea from the first shot in the series below. Congratulations to the 'emerging?' designers for some very clever and striking design work.
Theresa Nguyen - Fashion Runway Show presented in partnership with UTS Fashion Design Department at SCAF

Somewhat strangely even though this is a SCAF event in partnership with UTS Fashion Design Department, I have still had quite a difficult time finding any-sort-of-relevant-information about the designers featured at this event. It certainly makes me feel for the marketing people as it seems obvious-to-me that their job is absolutely impossible to do! No doubt no-one can send through their CV - Design Concept Outline - it's just you with the PR job and your ass in the breeze! So I have culled what information I could from the SCAF Facebook page; please let me know any mistakes! Mouse over images for hopefully correct designer information where I could find some.. My thoughts on what (emerging) fashion parades need can be read here..

Andreas Ottensamer 'Yellow Lounge' Sydney with 'The Faders' & Alex Raineri.

Last Thursday night I had the somewhat unexpected privilege of attending Sydney's first 'Yellow Lounge' or so we hope; the first of many to come.. Main Man of the night Berliner Philharmoniker clarinettist Andreas Ottensamer is certainly no stranger to the Yellow Lounge or the concert hall and now certainly not soloist appearances.. But I must say this is the first time in my life where I have been front and centre at a classical concert and taking pictures where I did not feel in the slightest risk of, that I might be lynched by those behind or beside me; well it's the first time I even dared!!! Perhaps this is part of the Yellow Lounge experience, it's certainly classy but it's anything but wound-up-tight; something like the handsomely attractive DJing twosome The Faders, which being a bit of a music snob I did not quite get, as part of a classical night out.. However & whatever my doubts it all went very smoothly, so smoothly indeed that I did not have that post-Opera-House in-the-cab experience of wanting the 'radio' turned off.. no it all went very well indeed with The Faders bookending the night. They enjoyed the night. I enjoyed the night; and so it seemed did everyone I spoke to. What can I say to fellow Brisbane boy Alex Raineri other than beautiful accompaniment and, nice tie!, Here are the pictures. Please Enjoy!

Stoli ORGNL.TV Launch Sydney - Shot with the Fuji X-Pro1

Well its nice to see someone with both the product and the budget throwing a pretty decent party; which, considering how things have been lately is equal-to or-greater-than a great party! Thank you Stolichnaya and ORGNL.TV. And according to the post party press release, I missed a hell of a lot of the action by turning up at 7.30ish instead of 6.30 but never mind, although I LOVE Betty Grumble I have seen her perform before, she is stunning btw in her near-as-naked-can-be Burlesqueness; but what I got to experience as with all warehouse type parties was the DJ's DJing - the Bar that was OPEN and flowing freely and smoothly; and all the people doing those people at nightclub/launch party type things like having a great time, dancing, talking and drinking the Stoli cocktails!

Sponsors wall - People - ORGNL.TV - Stolichnaya Vodka, Sydney Launch Party, Fuji X-Pro1
As you no doubt can gather from all this; this was certainly an OVER 18 Yo! event and if you are under 18 and reading this - please ask your parents permission to continue - because unless you have illegal ID this is what you have been missing out on. I had a great time snapping away at the people and the colour red which is the colour of 'Stolichnaya' which is a real Russian Vodka even if Russia is no longer Red so to speak.. If in the pictures you manage to see a red paper cup this cup has existed in one of three possible states and is (in the picture); or has-been or, is/was-about-to-become a Stoli Cocktail and as you can tell from the pictures below there was a LOT of Stoli Cocktailing going down on the night.

Whats behind the screen? ORGNL.TV - Stolichnaya Vodka, Sydney Launch Party
Sadly this is not a sponsored post, though if Stoli would like to send me a couple of cases of Stolichnaya Vodka I will gladly accept delivery. And by way of 'creative inspiration', which as far as I can tell is what  ORGNL.TV is all about I have decided to share here on Street Fashion Sydney - for the first time ever - my recipe for Vodka Pancakes which I 'invented' in Moscow circa 1994... not long after the Iron Curtain came down and Vodka was super affordable at like $3 AUD a bottle from the little kiosks that were everywhere. Sorry no picture of the Vodka pancake making so you will have to do with this exotic beast from outside the Kremlin walls..

Flaming Stoli Vodka Pancakes..

All you need is some flour, buttermilk or milk with some yoghurt stirred in, a couple of egg whites, sugar butter and Vodka!

Put one or two cups of flour in a mixing bowl, beat in enough buttermilk to make a cream like smoothness, a little sugar. Beat the two egg whites into stiff peaks and fold gently into the mix. Spoon mix into hot fry-pan, butter for each pancake; they should rise with the egg whites, flip when they bubble.. place on a warm plate till the mix is done.

Add a few tablespoons of sugar to the pan with some butter and a tablespoon of water and mix till dissolved, add few shots of  Stoli! Vodka and stir in - place the pancakes back in the pan and baste in the vodka syrup; apply match to mixture KAPOW - FlambĂ© Vodka pancakes - make sure you  keep one for yourself or you will miss out!
