Sydney Now - Jumpers and Umbrellas..
yes the highly unpredictable weather in Sydney continues so an umbrella is the must have accessory of the moment. And is it warm or will it be cold and wet??? Perfect for some light knitwear; I think these two gentleman seem to have it just right for a casual Saturday night.

Matiny Ng - The (new) Schiaparelli, of Geometric Fashion.
Fashion is not art and art is not fashion. But is that really so? It's always such a tussle between the decorative and the profound; the amusing and the serious; the functional and the.. non functional, the sublime; the ridiculous! I first experienced Matiny Ng's designs at the Raffles Byzantium graduate show in December 2013; playful and bold, wearable if you were game, distinctive and creative; using the circle and the square motif. The Menswear there, perhaps being the more radically inspired of the designs.
This year she is back as part of the Raffles International Showcase at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia along with fellow students from that 2013 show and others. Matiny Ng showcases her new label 580 and her SS 15/16 range. The pieces again designed around circle and square motifs speak to me of Non Objective Abstraction in art. Meanwhile, in the men's range there seem to be some sort of Luis Buñuel surrealist clerics, or perhaps it's that fashion parade from Fellini's movie Roma; no no its more Non Objective art as fashion from Matiny Ng. Wearable? I mean really how dare you.. Who cares!
I wonder if quite a few of the audience were wondering what the @#!! was going on with this show; but as you can tell I loved it; the colours the fabrics, the garments construction, and mostly the Ideas! More please Matiny Ng.

Back Row - Shiny studs and leather jacket at the Raffles International Showcase, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Sydney Australia. And an iPhone. Must say I loved this show of graduate designers of Raffles college several of whom I have blogged about previously. I think I have tow posts to do on this show alone so stay tuned to Street Fashion Sydney; more Raffles coming soon!

Photographing Backstage with Watson x Watson at MBFWA.
I was privileged last week to photograph backstage at the Watson x Watson fashion show, part of the Mecedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, or, #MBFWA; yes much easier.. While there were quite a few models walking in the show and most were from IMG, some including Madison Stubbington arrived somewhat later having had to rush over from a previous show; for these models this meant an intensive time with the teams from Redken for hair and Curtis Collection doing make up with very many hands working together to have the models ready to go. Must say the models were all a sea of calm in a maelstrom of activity! And the action never stops with, the hair and make up teams following the models all the way to the runway providing final touch ups on the go. All detailed in my photo essay below; I hope you enjoy it; I had a great time! Mouse over pictures for details.

Adventure Time on the Sydney City Circle.
Sitra wearing an Adventure Time skirt from EBay, "because it's cheaper there." with a striped top, oversize cardigan and canvas tote, white socks and canvas shoes. A pretty funky outfit!

Green Check Shirt and Chinos at Art Month Sydney.
I do love this gentleman's outfit spotted last night at Roslyn Oxley Gallery which was also host to the Art Month after party for Paddington. There is a lovely large scale photo silkscreen show on by David Noonan. But back to this outfit pictured, perfect for a relaxed and casual night out looking at art, Green Check Shirt, Chinos and brown loafers, a great men's look.
