Head On Photo Festival & The Fujifilm X100F

It's now the last week of the 2019 Head On Photography Festival here in Sydney. Thanks to Head On and Fujifilm Australia I have been sponsored with the fabulous X100F to document openings and well; whatever from the festival catches my eye. I've seen quite a few shows. I sat in on about 10 artists talks at the Head On Hub - and I certainly would not have attended quite so many if I had not wanted to document the photographers speaking - and that was a HUGE bonus as it was a really wonderful experience hearing these talented artists talking about their work. Put these talks on your list for next year; they are free, full of insights into photography, I just felt like I was getting topped up with ideas and inspiration. There are some more openings this week and of course, the HUB is still open with a lot of great work, shows are still up around town; get your skates on and check out as much as you can. I hit the Royal Botanic Gardens this afternoon, it was a beautiful sunny day here in Sydney! Mouse over the image for full details - click image to view larger. Surrealists at Play - Dali Sculptures LAUNCH at Billich Gallery

Last night saw a glittering launch party for The Dali Universe sculpture show at Billich Gallery the Rocks in the very heart of Sydney. A great venue for a Dali show as painter Charles Billich has, like Dali, always listened to his own voice and moved to the beat of a different drum. Lucky guests mingled with hosts Charles and Christa Billich whilst enjoying a live piano performance and those great Dali sculpture editions - and the additional presence of Andy Warhol!!! Well I wasn't expecting that! Andy was in fact actor Boguslaw Szpilcazak who is currently appearing as the puppet master of Pop Art, Andy Warhol in the play The Trial Of Dali, and stayed very much in character all night;. Great to see Charles signing a book for him at the end; I wonder who he made the inscription out to?

Yes it's the last weekend of the 2018 edition of the Head On Photography Festival and the Festival Hub up at Sydney's Paddington Town Hall. So you will want to check those shows out ASAP. www.headon.com.au/
