Menswear : Raffles Graduate Fashion Parade 2013

As promised a blog of the menswear, well most of the menswear (I think) from the Raffles 2013 New Byzantium fashion show. I don't have extensive details about the outfits but I think most of the shots do a pretty good job of telling the designers story. In case you are wondering; a brief word out the colour of my pictures.. I choose to photograph with a fixed 'daylight' colour-balance camera setting to capture the mood of the lighting; the look-and-feel of the parade, as such will you will see a bit of variation in the colours but; I think you will get the general idea of the designers colour-ways. Congratulations to David Zheng who was the only graduate to produce a men's only range (though one half of design duo Helen Nguyen, Natalie Nguyen may have also focused solely on menswear perhaps someone will let us know). New Byzantium : Raffles Graduate Fashion Parade 2013

Considering Byzantium was the height of civilisation of the old world perhaps New Byzantium is a truly fitting title for the 2013 Raffles College Graduate Fashion Parade; Which was, in terms of the creativity and quality of the fashion on show, a truly stunning fashion spectacle. Yes you don't hear me talking like that very often now do you!

And in amongst a consistently high standard were to my eye a few outstanding designers - there must be something in the water at Raffles at the moment.. Sharon Widjaja, stylishly elegant in white; Matiny Ng's over-the-top yet, still wearable designs; Rebecca Chen's tasteful futurism in whites and pinks; Skye Hays soft feminine dresses.. Great menswear that I will blog separately too, yes I will; along with more shots from some of the designers I enjoyed the most.
