Beyond the Light - Chinese Artist He Zige at 541 Art Space

The titles are as lyrical at the paintings and the opening as bold as the colours. He Zige and his undeniably beautiful exhibition of paintings curated by Vivien Jiang has landed and launched at 541 Art Space Sydney in a Gala style opening. One could see the paintings as abstract expressionist vision however it would seem they are an East-West expression of poetic form. If you love John Olsen or Luke Sciberras work you will probably enjoy this show of painterly cross currents. It's on right now at 541artspace until the 9th of July, so be quick

“What is light? When light shines into reality, there comes colour, when it shines into the heart, therecomes hope. Light is like a belief that can sanctify life. Beyond the Light refers to an existing supreme and abstract state that transcends sanctification and solemnisation” He Zige

The Art of Paint on your Pants and Much Much More!

It looks like expressionist painting has made a come back and it may well be it's best expressed through getting as much on your pants as you land on the canvas! Actually I for one am glad to see hard-won studio clothes worn out to art shows; though if you were at Liverpool St Gallery last night during the early Gallery Lock, a gallery so full of people you can't move; you might want to check and see if it looks like you brushed against a wet painting or two while out.. and if you were at Liverpool St or the crowd was too much you may also have dropped into Stanley Street Gallery which was showing three artists and some powerful sculptural work dealing with the most urgent matters of today and our future.. and the art looks great while prodding your possibly already well informed head; but we must keep on thinking on these things. Perhaps that's why I liked seeing the paint splattered clothes so much last night; it gave me hope of a rebellious youth rising up again. Now that's an encouraging thought to engage with. Scroll down for more shows and opening nights..
