Como Street Style
Sometimes a wrong turn is the best direction. I'm not talking about the fashion, I'm talking about photographing this great Italian Autumn ensemble before I even saw Lake Como, seems the lake is in the other direction.. But that's OK as I saw more of Como, the town and of course this black on black with long blue denim coat outfit. Thanks for the shot, yes I found the lake and I'm loving Como!

With the Art Crowd - After the Show.
Spotted outside and after the art show on William Street last night. Boob Tube, Denim and Converse All Stars. Classic style; hard to survive rubbing shoulders with the who's who of figurative landscape paining without a few spills! Love it - and yes I asked.
Curiously there used to be a an alternative crowd night club right round here called (I think) Music Cafe, mid to late 80's if anyone can recall..

Over the Weekend - Pinky Blue Fashion & Portraits Too!
What a weekend, I had the pleasure of documenting the launch of Linda Warlond's 'Love is the Colour' exhibition; Portraits of Pets and their owners with a significant twist, the owners are people who have had significant set-backs in their life, Linda is part of a group called Pets in the Park; that delivers veterinary assistance to the pets of the homeless! A beautiful exhibition and while there, I also managed to grab a couple of shots of a couple of Linda's friends at her show not homeless for Street Fashion Sydney Pink Flamingo & a rescue chihuahua (art direction by Linda), and a great upcycled blue denim tote with SKULLS, as well as some more Pinky Blue fashion pictures on the way home. Pandanus Palms against a Pink sunset shirt on Oxford Street, how could I resist; and some reading on the street corner, what a great weekend. Congratulation Linda on your fabulous show.
PS, Hello to everyone at MBFWA, have a fabulous fun fashion time :-)

Neuw FORM Designer's Denim & Raffles Showcase 2016.
I'm not sure if NEUW Denim were setting out to shock with a life model on a pedestal who could be seen the moment you entered the warehouse - a bit like when you landed on this page just now - or if they are simply making a statement about their new FORM Body-Con (body couture) denim. I hope it's the later as last event I attended with nudity was that Storm in Le Déjeuner en fourrure episode down at Cruise Bar.. Anyway as this was a range preview not exactly a party (that was the night before) we just got on with the job of checking out the new NEUW range and I can tell you right now, it's stretchy and it's tight tight tight, at least that is the impression I had on the night. And there is a very nice leather jacket in the range, similar to the one in the second shot down. So here we are, our beautiful artists model who is a real model - and some of the drawings people did of her, the jeans; and FORM capsule designer, Ana Vemic, who I put on the modelling plinth to photograph and asked a quick Q&A about the range - stretchy body hugging and built to last - All GOOD! Continues with RAFFLES below.

Raffles Fashion Designers at The Design Residency.
So Wednesday evening Vivienne and I hit The Design Residency Oxford Street to check out this years 'Showcase Designers' fashion which will be hitting the runway in the penultimate show at MBFWA at Carriageworks. So this was a little preview and some drinks and nibbles and an opening launch speech by the Lord Mayor of Sydney Clover Moore and Principal of Raffles, Steve Rawlinson. We mingled with everyone and learn't a little of the direction the different designers were taking and so on. I won't go into grand details! There will be another blog and pictures AFTER the SHOW! Keep scrolling down, there's bloggers and party peeps and then my series of portraits of the designers, sorry if I missed you; at least everyone is in the group shot with Clover. If you cant wait to learn more, you can check out the designers at The Design Residency from the 12th til the 29th of May.

Under Mercury Vapours
I have long been in love with this location and wanted to photograph there, although until recently it has not been accessible in the way it was for our photoshoot. I also wanted to keep it simple; energy, connection, emotion, that is the story I am after. So I am very grateful to Vishmi for taking the 'risk' of shooting with me in such a quiet and personal manner. We had an enjoyable time (crew-less but not clueless..) and it all happened reasonably quickly, the magic of the shoot unfolding quite seamlessly. The still life shots of the location were made during the site's transitional phases in the weeks preceding our shoot. You have to keep an eye on things! The idea for the title is from the gas in the street lights that give a yellow cast, they are Mercury Vapour lamps - or at least they used to be..
Thanks to Portobello PR for the great clobber.

Night of the Jumper 'N' Jacket @ Art Space Woolloomooloo..
A huge show of local and international art is always going to deliver a huge crowd. It's my first trip back to the Gunnery in Woolloomooloo in its new incarnation as Art Space; and it did not disappoint as the style flowed as freely the wine and beer, so much so I need to get back there and check out the show. What I saw I loved and I didn't see anyone kick any of those ticking metronomes - "Object to be destroyed" on steroids! At least they are the wooden German ones with the nice tone. Jumpers were hot and I wish that knitwear in the second shot down had the face woven in, alas it is just a shadow. Plenty of colour, but I seem to be falling in love with black and white photography all over again, so here's a selection of both. thanks guys (guys and gals) you are awesome!
From Art Space website,
"With over 60 artworks, and drawing on the notion of the dematerialisation of art, Art as a Verb looks broadly at art’s relationship to the world and what constitutes the work of an artist. How do the varying roles of an artist (as instigator, facilitator, teacher, performer, consumer or visionary) fit within broader society? And how does the museum or gallery support art forms that function beyond the art object?"
