Milanese cycling Style in Darlinghurst, Sydney

Or maybe that's Surry Hills in Crown on the other side of Oxford Street - whatever... cycling dressed like this is So Milanese; with a takeaway short black being sipped at the lights, well that is Australian!  Thanks for the shot, a morning dose of happiness and a killer smile!

Fishnets, a Glen Plaid Jacket & Off White Belt

Warming up the end of winter with a Glen Plaid double breasted jacket & Off White belt along with fishnet stockings and knee high boots. Sometimes someones sense of fashion is so arresting you can't but help stopping them in their tracks to ask for a picture. Personally I can never make up my mind; is Virgil Abloh's Off White label destroying fashion or setting the ground work for a bright new future? Apparently that belt was a brand new acquisition and I for one love the contrast it makes to this outfit! Spotted on the way to Holey Moley, Darlinghurst, Sydney.

With the Art Crowd - After the Show.

Spotted outside and after the art show on William Street last night. Boob Tube, Denim and Converse All Stars. Classic style; hard to survive rubbing shoulders with the who's who of figurative landscape paining without a few spills! Love it - and yes I asked.

Curiously there used to be a an alternative crowd night club right round here called (I think) Music Cafe, mid to late 80's if anyone can recall..

About Art Last Night - Landscapes at King on William & Stacks.

Landscapes. I love landscapes and I love figurative landscapes. Last night even had painted landscapes on glass transferred photographically as prints. Heliographs by Idris Murphy as part of his show Drawing Breath, Works on Paper at King Street Gallery on William. Actually both landscape 'painting' shows I attended last night had a loose photographic connection. Newcomer Stacks Projects in Victoria Street Potts Point/Kings Cross is on the site of the legendary former Graces Camera shop (second hand gear or just plain stolen??? no one ever seemed to know..). Idris's show was opened by Max Cullen who gave a memorable speech about the area the paintings are from and Aboriginal heritage of the land, visions of the land, landscapes.. Michelle Hungerford's exhibition is a highly figurative and colourful exhibition of works on paper. Both shows are on NOW and within walking distance of one another. Links below.

Art Sniffers - The New Trend?

I can't say exactly why but while I was out at this exhibition opening at the 'new' Chalk Horse Gallery, William Street Darlinghurst, for some reason I was suddenly possessed by the urge to start a whole new blog called Art Sniffers! Was it the ear-wax aroma of the fresh white paint that had set me off? Was it the artworks themselves? Well I do like this show.. Was it the windowless underground, basement location? I am not really sure but; if you look closely at the pictures it almost looks like the art patrons bending forward for a closer look.. well they could almost be sniffing the art! And if you have ever painted in big smears of oil paint; you will know that art sniffing is pretty heady stuff.

Planters Hat, Check Shirt and a Schooner of Beer.

Plantation hat, riverboat gamblers hat or just a wide brimmed Panama, call it what you like this hat and its owner are effortlessly stylish. Perfect for the long days of summer that are rapidly approaching. Spotted in Darlinghurst Sydney; and that  looks like a cloudy Coopers beer too. Nice drop that. Keep it up!

Gentlemen of Rock Style - Baby On Board - Film Club Darlinghurst.

OK I won't lie this shot is a set up. But it is only a set up of what I saw less than a minuet earlier after leaving Black Eye Gallery, and strolling back towards Kings Cross. I don't really (much) fancy myself as a Cartier-Bresson! Anyway I walked past, then I walked back, and into Film Club Darlinghurst, introduced myself and said hello to Alex and asked if he would mind recreating where he was as I saw him when I walked past. All good and here's the shot, classic Rock look, now more than ever I think and in particular with the Baby Bjorn(ish). Thank you so much; just remember people really are nice!

Soft Blacks and Brown.

When I asked this young man if I could grab a shot of him for Street Fashion Sydney at the Gallery 9 exhibition opening, he asked me if I was being ironic, and after I assured him I was not, he agreed to let me grab a few frames. Anyway I do love this outfit. And while yes I do believe that it is looking more like women's apparel than classic menswear;  its working very well. It also reminds me of my trips to Sportsgirl in my late teens to buy shirts as they were funkier and cheaper than the the shirts you could buy in the mens stores.. Thanks so much for a great street fashion shot. Art in background is by WHAT, photographed at Gallery 9 in Darlinghurst.
