Casual Comfort and Style

I spotted this lady walking along Old South Head Road while Viv and I were on the way to Art Atrium for an exhibition opening. I was going to grab a sneaky sneaker shot but when she stopped for the lights I simple asked for a Street Fashion Sydney shot and she agreed. Then we all introduced ourselves - but my memory is like a sieve! So here's to Adidas and Pearls, Style and Comfort. Thank you for the picture, it's much appreciated. Kent.  A senior citizen wearin a red winter coat over a black top with pearl necklace, tweedy pants and black Adidas sneakers. Seen on Old South Head Road Bondi Junction. SFS - Prague Edition - Ukraine Style.

Well I don't think this lovely and friendly young woman from the Ukraine is speaking for all her country so you will just have to put the title down to editorial licence on my part. We did however have enough of a chat at the Gerhard Richter retrospective(ish) Kinsky Palace - National Gallery, to learn her nationality and that she loves Richter. So the stripes are by Richter and the Mirrored Stripes are in a mirror artwork which as you can see works just like a regular mirror but has its own description tag and title.. which is something most mirrors certainly don't have outside the sales catalogue; though I'm not really wanting to digress into an art review I somehow seem to have done just that - Richter show review(type thing) soon on SFS  (as I get my 100 gig of files in order). Love the outfit and the bronze high-cut sneakers; when in Prague, be ready to do plenty of walking over uneven cobbled streets - high heels are only for the brave, the strong and very the very experienced! PS, if in Prague, see the show!

Shoes - Woollahra Art Space..

I must say I was not feeling quite my usual perky self the other night when I attended this lovely art opening in  Woollahra. So perhaps I spent a bit more time looking down at the floor than usual - I mean I always look down at the floor to see what people are wearing on their feet; but on this particular evening footwear was all I could bring myself to photograph. Not to worry, I think we have a fairly interesting collection of shoes and what-not here and, some insight into seasonal, or is that trans-seasonal at this time of year; toe nail colour schemes. And it looks like the orange has it though I do like that white nail polish too! Here are the shots, I hope you enjoy Street Fashion Sydney's first ever no-faces picture post.

Mark Drew - Converse Needs You - Dem Nutz!!

I spent yet another very pleasant Friday evening up at China Heights Gallery, this time it was the turn of gallery founder Mark Drew to show his new work - 'DEEZ NUTZ' a fusion of 'Peanuts' comic strips and Old Skool Rap lyrics, both of which have been influential in shaping the Mark Drew of today.. Or at least that's kind of how I took the show and I took the idea to heart for my portrait of Mark below where, taking the cue from Charlie Brown's or is it Marks thought bubble I have swapped/fussed Charlie and Mark's heads; now I'll never be part of the crew!!! Perhaps that's part of the story too..

And of course lots of cool people in cool gear, a cross section of Sydney Style, as always, and damn it I did miss getting a shot of a fabulous flowing-print-pants-suit teamed with a cut-away sandal/shoe styled after a golf shoe that I was going to team with Kayla's 'golf' boot/shoe below. Which kind of brings me to the last shot in this fashion post; the hideous Converse Campaign that was jumping out at me yesterday at every turn. What advertising Numm Nut says sneakers when they can say Converse instead! (yeah I get that they are making cool by not naming the brand, so what!) Mark; the sneaker game needs you; maybe this time we can go along for the ride together!

Anyway, shoes are not boring and and only losers wear socks pulled up like that in Australia - great job on the local research Converse! Or as we say here, "good work; Dick Head." Excuse my French! Money for billboards but not locally produced product. Typical...
