TISSOT Exclusive LIVE-NBA Finals Party - Sydney Overseas Passenger Terminal
With a select group of local sports and fashion identities and the events own HUGE satellite dish parked out back - TISSOT hosted an exclusive LIVE-NBA Finals Party at the Sydney Overseas Passenger Terminal Cargo Hall, on a perfect sunny autumn day. NBA and Australian Boomers stars Isaac Humphries and Sterling Brown did a pre-game warm up interview; shot goals in a mid game free throw comp as entertainment against Josh Dugan of the Cronulla Sharks and Lachie Whitfield of the GWS GIANTS. There was American themed food; Burgers, Tacos, Caesar salad, Nachos, all of which was rather good; washed down with beer, water or wine.. Or a coffee; which was how I started out the day.. And of course, I couldn't resist a little impromptu street-basketball fashion shoot with http://whitecaviarlife.com/ in the glorious late afternoon light - Thanks Tissot, Spalding and the Raptors who took out Game 1 of the NBA Finals Series over the Warriors - what a day! Head On Photo Festival & The Fujifilm X100F
It's now the last week of the 2019 Head On Photography Festival here in Sydney. Thanks to Head On and Fujifilm Australia I have been sponsored with the fabulous X100F to document openings and well; whatever from the festival catches my eye. I've seen quite a few shows. I sat in on about 10 artists talks at the Head On Hub - and I certainly would not have attended quite so many if I had not wanted to document the photographers speaking - and that was a HUGE bonus as it was a really wonderful experience hearing these talented artists talking about their work. Put these talks on your list for next year; they are free, full of insights into photography, I just felt like I was getting topped up with ideas and inspiration. There are some more openings this week and of course, the HUB is still open with a lot of great work, shows are still up around town; get your skates on and check out as much as you can. I hit the Royal Botanic Gardens this afternoon, it was a beautiful sunny day here in Sydney! Mouse over the image for full details - click image to view larger. Ante Badzim - Middle Beauty at VANDAL
Thursday afternoon I rang my friend Rod and asked him if he would like to come along to an exhibition of pictures taken in the Middle East. Now Rod often seems-to-be flying around the world shooting historic Muslim Architecture with a large format film camera - so no surprise, he said 'I'll see you there'. Of course who hasn't been seduced by the idea of travelling and seeing the ancient architecture of these sun drenched lands? Unfortunately I've only managed a transfer at Dubai airport so I needed to be doing my tour by proxy.. I was looking forward to seeing Ante Badzim's exhibition Middle Beauty.
The exhibition presents exotic, sparsely peopled landscapes, traditional Middle Eastern cityscapes, Muslim architectural interior spaces and even a camelscape.. All in beautifully rendered, muted tones with the occasional colour splash or a deeper contrast. It's all exactly what you might hope to find as a traveller; but without the prerequisite photography skills, I suspect mere mortals might try to find and fail. Which makes this show a must visit for me. One of my favourite shots was the goat picture Ante is standing in front of above. Windswept, tranquil, beautiful, natural, everything just right. Ante does a great job of blending the varied elements of the Middle East, landscape, towns, structures, history into a glorious journey of photography and light. Myself, my mate Rod, and it seems everyone else enjoyed the show too. On until the 7th of June - VANDAL 16-30 Vine St. Redfern, Sydney.

HeadOn Photo Festival 2019 Up & Running
It's OFFICIAL - HeadOn Photo Festival is off and running with the big launch tonight at UNSW Art & Design (COFA). Felt a bit like I was back in the B&W darkroom; which I actually miss quite frankly. Now was that a special nofd to analogue photography? Here's my candid portrait of some young people in (and) the crowd with my (on loan) Fujifilm Australia X100F. Looking forward to the shows over the weekend it's going to be busy!

FOXFIRES (KITSUNE-BI)
I kicked of HeadOn with a pre launch show by photographer: Luke Hardy at Stanley Street Gallery. It's a little bit Red Riding Hood meets Japan, or perhaps its more the the other way around. Beautiful wor and on until the 11th of May. There was a dramatic performance piece during the launch, Luke was working the follow spot, and there was Japanese flute and Korean drum accompaniment.#FujifimX_au #HeadOnPhotoFestival #X100F
