Arbiters - Photography Exhibition at KUDOS Gallery
Sydney is finally getting into the swing of 2018 with a pretty cool photography exhibition at KUDOS Gallery which opened last night to a happy crowd. Arbiters is a group show with Orson Heidrich, Vasili Papathanasopoulos, Manon Mikolaitis, Daniel Mitchell, Bryce Noakes, Cat Wratten, Tayla Jay - curated by Vasili Papathanasopoulos & Orson Heidrich. I like the nods to analogue photography - more than a nod in some cases - and the rather well executed presentation of each artists piece. Hopefully these shots from the opening will encourage you to pop along and have a look or yourself. I managed to photograph four of the artist too, great show guys, love your work! Art & Breast Awareness - KUDOS & M2 Galleries.
In the interest of avoiding upsetting anyone too much - one hopes, with our first post for 2017 - I will point out very early on that the awareness at the joint show at KUDOS was of a very different nature to the underground comix art type of breast awareness at the group show at M2 gallery. Space 1, KUDOS was (on NOW) Bec Litvan's BEAUTY AND THE BREAST; Painting, Photography, beautiful decorative Mastectomy Bras and a table of pearls as part of the installation. Bec told me the work was born out of the change she saw in her mothers personality after the breast cancer operation, the works are intended to bring back the beauty and a sense of the joys of life, and her mum modelled for the photographs in the show. COLLUSIVE MISCELLANY by Amy Claire Mills, Bailee Lobb is not about breasts however it is a work performed in the nude so-to-speak, while interacting with the large wind blown fabrics which have themselves been manipulated through tying & heat - even the fans blowing did nothing to diminish the heat of this performance of which there are to be three more iterations; Live performances in space 2 : Saturdays 14, 21 & 28 January, 1-2pm. Check it out!

GORO a group show of five artists who, as mentioned above are very much in the style of the underground Comix of the 70's & 80's; think Charles Burns, Robert Crumb & H R Giger but with an Aussie-Goth/Surf Culture tie in.. And the breasts? Well of course, Dominatrix style and plenty of them. I must admit I rather enjoyed this show and it was a great and friendly crowd for the lens of Street Fashion Sydney too. Two water cannon hold a pissing contest - But is it Art?
Or is it a Fountain? The thing that did surprise me most about the giant motorised pump bucket bongs was that the large plastic wheelie bins they were constructed from were embossed, I ❤ BNE - BCC 2014/15, and they were a long way from home. For quite a while now I have had the feeling that a change over of the art-guard was happening and this work at KUDOS Gallery, again confirmed that things were moving on; I mean what do you do when everything you want to know about is just a click away; and human kinds 'natural' 'superiority' may be on the verge of being eclipsed by machine super intelligence; that may, or may not want to make art too? Make a video? Live stream the web? Are two buckets shooting perfumed jets of water at one another art, live streaming? Perhaps the writing is on the wall; Fountain R. Mutt; after all most of it is kind of ready-made..

It Started out Dark, ended up Pitch Black!
Tuesday was not the best and brightest of days, spring was certainly not very much in the air. But fashion changes with the weather and maybe your mood too so this blog kicked off the week with Black on Black here; then ramped up the all-new-InstaGRAM-account with plenty of not-light-weight SPRING photography as Sydney turned back on it's charm. You know what; I am actually enjoying Instagram at last.. and I think it shows! So if you are not already doing so, I think my reversal of attitude on IG is worth checking out. The New Plan is to the IG the week away; with special write-ups and a weekly round-up too on Street Fashion Sydney's home turf right here - but our turf is expanding - is there an HTML Emoji for that 😃 I guess not..
